This pattern is for my husband. He wanted something inspired by vintage video games that hold a special nostalgia for him, so we designed motifs inspired by Space Invaders, Galaga, and Pac Man. He also request black and neon, which led to a collaboration with Eva, the dyer behind Seismic Yarns.
Suggested Yarn
- 3 full skeins of DK weight yarn OR
- 1 full skein and 5-6 minis of DK weight yarn
- Seismic Yarn & Dyeworks –Butter Sock DK, 85% Extra Fine Merino / 15% Nylon100 g / 3.5 oz. 246 yds/225 m

Approximate Yardage

Suggested Needles
- US 5/3.75 mm or size needed to obtain gauge
- 16 in (40cm) circular needles
Gauge
- 24 sts x 28 rows per 4 in (10 cm) in colorwork

- This pattern is available in one size, however, the knitter can easily adjust the circumference larger or smaller by knitting the colorblock longer or shorter

The 8 Bit Doodle is a series of mix-and-match mini colorwork charts for an infinity cowl. With a variety of characters and border designs, this pattern allows for knitters to choose motifs that align to their personal childhood memories!
Construction
- The pattern is knit in the round, from a provisional cast on, and grafted together using a kitchener stitch to provide a seamless finish
- The "doodles" are created by mixing and matching various mini colorwork charts based on personal preference
