The only downside to having so many Doodles is that it can be hard to navigate all the different options! ‪What is the difference between a full pattern and a base pattern? What charts are in the book? Can I just get a chart? Can I knit my favorite chart on my favorite scarf?

Most important thing to know: Within a Collection, the charts are the same across the different formats (i.e. the Haunted Deck, Haunted Charts-Only, and Haunted Infinity Cowl all come with the same 24 Haunted Charts). You just have to decide which format works best for your knitting style.

DOODLE BOOKS

Doodles by Pacific Knit Co. has TWO published Doodle books!

The Doodle Knit Directory is a great all-inclusive guide to learning to knit colorwork by 'Doodling' with yarn, and includes 9 base patterns for accessories as well as 200 Doodle charts!

Our second book, The Doodle Sock Knitting Directory, is a deep dive into everything you need to know about Doodle Socks, and includes 2 customizable sock patterns and 200 Doodle charts! 

The patterns and charts included in both books are all part of the Doodle Framework, which means that everything in the books can be mixed-and-matched with any Doodle Charts from any other Doodle Collection and can be used with any of our Base Patterns!

If you are new to Doodling, Doodle Books are a great introduction to the Doodle Framework as they comes with lots of options and advice on how to mix-and-match to knit exactly what you want. 

You can also now get all the charts from the Doodle Knit Directory Book as cards! The Doodle Knitting Card Deck includes the same 200 charts that originally featured in the popular Doodle Knit Directory, reformatted into a portable card deck - including every swatch image from the book!

DOODLE DECKS, PATTERNS, & CHARTS

Most new Doodle releases will come in multiple formats. 

All of the themes that you can find in our Doodle Decks are also available digitally. 

The charts are the same across the different formats (i.e. the Haunted Deck, Haunted Charts-Only, and Haunted Infinity Cowl all come with the same 24 Haunted Charts) so you can choose which format works best for you!

DOODLE CARD DECKS

The Doodle Decks are Pacific Knit Co.'s signature product. Each deck consists of a number of colorwork charts printed on cards (similar to playing cards) that you can mix, match, rearrange, and play around with in any way you like! Each deck features charts centered around a theme, and there is NO overlap of charts between any two decks.

CORE DECKS

Our Core Doodle Decks are inspired by our love of beginner-friendly colorwork charts that are intended to be used again and again (and again!). Each of these sets is organized around a timeless theme and designed with short floats and easy repeats, making them perfect for simple projects or combining with any of our other Doodle chart sets.

Core Decks come with 51 charts and include Basic, Geometric, and our Seasonal Core Decks for Autumn, Winter, Spring, and Summer.

Literary Decks come with 13 charts, and are themed around different classic stories!

WHY WE LOVE DOODLE CARDS:

The Doodle Decks are great for the Doodle knitter who already has a few patterns and just wants more charts to mix, match, and combine for all their colorwork projects. With hundreds of charts to choose from, you can use these cards to design almost any project you can imagine!

And don't feel limited to our Base Patterns - Doodle Charts work with any pattern that has room for colorwork (and a stitch count that is a multiple of 24). They also work with crochet, cross-stitch, or any other craft that can utilize a charted image!

FULL DOODLE PATTERNS

The Full Doodle Pattern option includes all the charts in that Doodle Collection AND at least one pre-assembled full project chart AND the complete instructions to knit the project.

Importantly, every digital download and deck option under the same collection title includes the same set of charts - just available in different formats based on your preference (i.e. the Botanical Doodle Infinity Cowl has the same charts as the Botanical Doodle Deck).

The Full Pattern option is the closest format to what you might be used to working from if you're new to Doodling, as it's how most designers write and publish patterns: one set of charts for one single item to knit. Nice and simple.

Just want to knit the sample? The Full Pattern PDFs all include at least one pre-assembled full-project chart, with everything arranged just like the sample, so you don't have to DIY if that's not your style. 

This option is great for knitters who prefer a ready-to-go set of directions (as opposed to a more build-it-yourself approach). If you want to knit a cowl exactly like the sample photo, this one is for you.

CHARTS-ONLY DOWNLOADS

The Charts Only option is great for knitters who want to keep using new charts on the same base shapes. 

Whether you like to use digital apps to help with knitting, or you want to be able to zoom in on charts, or if you just find it easier to maintain your pattern library this way - our charts-only PDFs have all the benefits of the Doodle Decks in a format that works for you!

Just like our Doodle Decks, the Charts-Only option is great for the Doodle knitter who already has a few patterns, but wants to expand their collection of charts.

BASE DOODLE PATTERNS

Our library of Base Doodle Patterns includes a number of patterns for different knit accessories that are designed to work with ANY chart from ANY Doodle Collection across our full range of products.

These patterns do NOT include any charts, but instead work as a companion to all of our Doodle Decks and Charts-Only Packs. The idea is that you can use one single pattern and make endless variations of it. Instead of buying each Standard Cowl Full Doodle Pattern, just buy the Base Standard Cowl once and knit any Doodle Deck with just one pattern!

If you are a collector of Doodle Decks, these Base Patterns are a must-have! Combining the Base shapes with Doodle charts allows for, quite literally, endless customization.
