The only downside to having so many Doodles is that it can be hard to navigate all the different options! ‪What is the difference between a full pattern and a base pattern? What charts are in the book? Can I just get a chart? Can I knit my favorite chart on my favorite scarf?

The Doodle Book

The Doodle Knit Directory Book includes 9 base patterns for accessories as well as 200 Doodle charts. All the patterns and the charts featured in the book are compatible with all of our Base Patterns as well as every Doodle charts in any other Doodle Collection.

The 9 patterns in the book are a mix of exclusives and individual Base Patterns and include the Standard Cowl, Infinity Cowl, Scarf, Beanie, Headband, Mittens, Fingerless Mitts, and two Socks (fingering weight and DK). 

The 200 charts in the book are a mix of exclusives and fan-favorites. Roughly half the charts are only available in the book, and the half that also feature in other decks are seasonal favorites pulled from our Core Decks (including spring, summer, autumn, winter and basic).

What's NOT in the book? Our Expansion Decks & Destination Decks are not included in the book. The Doodle Sweater is also not in the book. Since they are all part of the Doodle Framework through, any of them will work together!

If you are new to Doodling, our book is a great introduction to the Doodle Framework as it comes with lots of options and advice on how to mix-and-match to knit exactly what you want.

Doodle Decks

The Doodle Decks are Pacific Knit Co.'s signature product. Each deck consists of a number of colorwork charts printed on cards (similar to playing cards) that you can mix, match, rearrange, and play around with in any way you like! Each deck features charts centered around a theme, and those charts are exclusive to that deck.

• Core Decks come with 51 charts and include our Summer, Winter, Spring, Autumn and Basic Collections. 

• Expansion Decks come with 24 charts and include fun themes such as Fantasy, Dino, Haunted, Sports (and many, many more).

• Destination Decks come with 13 charts focused around the food, architecture and icons of the featured city.

• We also have limited edition Single Doodle Cards and a Doodle of the Month Club that showcase even more fun, whimsical charts!

The Core and Expansion Decks include simple, bullet-point patterns for our Infinity & Standard Cowls, but all the charts in all the decks work with any of our Base Doodle Patterns.

And don't feel limited to our Base Patterns - Doodle Charts work with any pattern that has room for colorwork (and a stitch count that is a multiple of 24). They also work with crochet, cross-stitch, or any other craft that can utilize a charted image!

The Doodle Decks are great for the Doodle knitter who already has a few patterns and just needs more (and more!) charts to mix, match, and combine for all their colorwork projects. 

The Charts-Only Packs

The Charts Only Digital Packs are great for knitters who prefer to organize their charts digitally, or want to keep using new charts on the same base shapes. 

All of the themes that you can find in our Doodle Decks are also available digitally. 

Whether you like to use apps to help with knitting, or you want to be able to zoom in on charts, or if you just find it easier to maintain your pattern library this way - our charts-only digital expansions have all the benefits of the Doodle Decks in a format that works for you!

Just like our Doodle Decks, the Charts-Only option is great for the Doodle knitter who already has a few patterns, but wants to expand their collection of charts.

Full Doodle Patterns

The Full Doodle Pattern option includes all the charts in that Doodle Collection, as well as one complete pattern for an accessory or garment.

Importantly, every digital and deck option under the same collection title includes the same chart set - just available in different formats based on your preference (i.e. the Botanical Doodle Infinity Cowl has the same charts as the Botanical Doodle Deck).

As a standard, all new Doodles are released using the infinity cowl as the full pattern option. This is simply because it gives us the biggest canvas to showcase the majority of the charts in a new Doodle Collection.

The Full Pattern option is the closest format to what you might be used to working from if you're new to Doodling, as it's how most designers write and publish patterns: one set of charts for one single item to knit. Nice and simple.

Just want to knit the sample? The Full Pattern PDF include the charts arranged just like the sample, so you don't have to DIY if that's not your style. 

This option is great for knitters who prefer a ready-to-go set of directions (as opposed to a more build-it-yourself approach). If you want to knit a cowl exactly like the sample photo, this one is for you.

Base Doodle Patterns

Our library of Base Doodle Patterns includes a number of patterns for different knit accessories that are designed to work with ANY chart from ANY Doodle Collection across our full range of products.

These patterns do not include any charts, but instead work as a companion to all of our Doodle Decks and Charts-Only Packs. The idea is that you can use one single pattern and make endless variations of it. Instead of buying each Standard Cowl Full Doodle Pattern, just buy the Base Standard Cowl once and knit any Doodle Deck with just one pattern!

If you are a collector of Doodle Decks, these Base Patterns are a must-have! Combining the Base shapes with Doodle charts allows for, quite literally, endless customization.
