Tutorial: How to Seam a Knotted Headband

Adding the finishing touches to a knitting project can sometimes be the most daunting and time-consuming. Especially if you're not quite sure how to do the final assembly to pull it all together!
Our Base Doodle Headband 2 pattern includes a schematic for the final seaming and assembly, but sometimes actual photos of the process are the best way to explain how to do it! That's why we made this step-by-step guide with written AND photo instructions that tell you all you need to know about this step in the Doodle Headband 2!

INSTRUCTIONS
MATERIALS
Your (almost) finished headband + a tapestry needle and a nice, long tail of yarn
SET UP
The first thing to do is to get yourself, and your knitting, situated.
Lay the tube of the headband out flat on a table, with the BOR seam facing down.
It might be easier to go ahead and thread your yarn tail onto your tapestry needle now, so that it is ready to go.

ASSEMBLY
Bring both ends of your knitting together by folding the ends up and towards the middle of your headband tube.
Fold each end into a "C" shape, with the BOR seam centered on the outside curve of the "C" on both ends.
Interlock the two "C"s, so that the cast-on and bind-off edges are stacked on top of each other, with the edges facing up towards you.

Take a moment to make sure all the edges are nicely aligned and laying flat against each other, as you'll need to sew through all the layers to create the knot.
Starting at the edge of the fold where your yarn tail is, begin sewing up and down through all 8 layers of knitting.

Continue sewing across to the outside edge of the other "C" fold, and all the edges are seamed together.
Secure the remaining tail of yarn, and use your tapestry needle to hide the tail inside the tube of the headband, so it is not visible.
Rotate the headband so that the seamed edge is now on the inside of headband, and the cleaner side of the "knot" is visible on the outside.

And you're done! Enjoy your new headband!
Happy Doodling!
