Doodle Project Inspo: World Cup Doodles

Want to make a custom 2026 World Cup Doodle project to support your team? Good news is we have all the pieces you need! With our Sports Doodle and a little creativity, you can use the Doodle Framework to create the perfect project to wear to the next game!

STEP 1 Pick your pattern shape!
Any of our Doodle charts can be knit onto any of our Base Pattern shapes, so you can pick whichever one you want for your World Cup project!
If you want to knit up something quickly, maybe go for a Beanie, Headband, or even just a Cup Cozy. But if you want something that fits more Doodle charts, maybe knit yourself a Standard or Infinity Cowl, or even a pair of Soccer Socks!
FYI: We also have free versions of a few of our most popular Base Patterns on our Doodle Blog, to make it even easier to start your project!
If you want to plan out your design before you start knitting, we have FREE printable Doodle Coloring Pages for every pattern shape, so you can draw out some ideas!

STEP 2 Get your soccer charts!
Grab a copy of our Sports Doodle!
You can get the Sports Doodle Deck, or if you want to cast-on immediately, you can grab the full pattern for the Infinity Cowl, or the Charts-Only PDF.
The Sports Doodle comes with a ton of great charts, but if you're looking to make a World Cup project, grab the charts for:
- Soccer Ball
- Soccer Field
- Goal
- Net
- Team Stripes
- Team Jersey
- Trophy
- Foam Finger
- Referee Shirt

Grab a copy of our Doodle Alphabet!
The Sports Doodle digital downloads already come with charts for the full alphabet and numbers. But if you want a bit more guidance on how to use those letters to add the name of your favorite team or player (or even just "World Cup 2026" or "GOAL") to your project, we've got a whole resource on How to use the Doodle Alphabet!

Find some mascots!
The mascots for the 2026 World Cup are Maple the Moose, Zayu the Jaguar, and Clutch the Eagle. And the good news is we have charts for all of those!
- Moose chart in the Alaska Doodle, as well as the Arctic Doodle.
- Jaguar chart in the Jungle Doodle.
- Bald Eagle chart in the Alaksa Doodle!
Reminder: If you're picking up multiple chart sets to use the BOGOPATTERN code for Buy-2-Get-1-Free!

Get some team stripes or a flag!
We have charts for team stripes too! Two different versions, one simple and one ready to go to add a team name to!
We don't have any pre-made charts of any national flags, but it might be easier than you think to design one yourself! Check out our blog about our Blank Doodle Mini-Charts for some blank charts and design tips.
Any country whose flag is just stripes should be pretty easy to replicate in knitting, but if there's an additional design element you want to add, you can always also Duplicate Stitch onto your project!

Still need another specific chart for your World Cup project? We have a Doodle Chart Search that makes is super easy to find exactly what you're looking for! Every Doodle Chart we've ever designed is in there, and many have knit swatches to show you what it looks like!
STEP 3 Find a yarns in your team colors!
Time to pick the perfect colors for your project!
You'll probably want black and white for a soccer ball, and maybe green for the field. But have fun and pick some colors that represent the team you're supporting! Make a jersey in the colors they wear, or make sure you have the right colors to knit your team's country's flag!
If you want some tips on making sure you have the right color contrast for a colorwork knitting project, check out our resource on using a B&W Filter to Check Contast!

STEP 4 Knit!
That's it! You have all the pieces and are ready to make your completely customized World Cup knit project!
If you need more support, we've got even more resources on colorwork and general knitting techniques over on our Doodle Blog!
Happy Doodling!
