This "Doodle" pattern was designed with the beginner knitter in mind. If you’re new to colorwork or want to see what it’s like to “design” your own cowl, this is a great way to dive in! Set up as a series of simple striped or dotted mini charts, this choose your knit-venture pattern is sure to provide lots of fun!
Suggested Yarn
- 3 skeins of DK weight yarn
- Cedar House Yarns –Yearling DK, 100% SuperwashMerino Wool, 100 g / 3.5 oz. 231 yards (211 m)
- Sample: Ginger (yellow), Ink (black), and Straw (cream)
Approximate Yardage
- 230 yards (210 m) in MC (doodle background)
- 250 yards (228 m) in CC1 (doodle colorwork)
- 230 yards (210 m) in CC2 (stockinette)
Suggested Needles
- US 5/3.75 mm or size needed to obtain gauge
- 16 in (40cm) circular needles
Gauge
- 24 sts x 28 rows per 4 in (10 cm) in colorwork
Size(s)
- This pattern is available in one size, however, the knitter can easily adjust the circumference larger or smaller by knitting the colorblock longer or shorter
Finished Measurements
- 10 in height x 13 in width (25 x 33 cm)
- 26 in (66 cm) circumference

Construction
- The pattern is knit in the round, from a provisional cast on, and grafted together using a kitchener stitch to provide a seamless finish
- The "doodles" are created by mixing and matching various mini colorwork charts based on personal preference
